MADE FOR THE FLOORFor despatch supervisors, warehouse team leaders and loaders at manufacturers who stage individually labelled finished cartons or pallets for a collection.
A USEFUL STARTING POINT
A carton count hides the wrong carton
When cartons are counted rather than identified, a carton from another order can take the place of a missing one and the total still looks right. ManifestBench checks each carton ID against the list. A carton from another order is Unexpected and does not fill a gap, a carton scanned twice does not count twice, and the missing list names every carton still to find. The result says which listed IDs were observed; it does not book a courier or confirm that the goods were loaded.
FROM QUESTION TO EVIDENCE
Three steps to a useful result.
- 01
Export the load list
Save the carton or pallet IDs for the collection as a UTF-8 CSV from your order or despatch system, one ID per row, with an optional description such as the customer order. Give the check a title and, if you know it, the date the list was exported.
- 02
Scan in the staging lane
Open the camera and scan each carton label in turn. Seen in this check, Already seen or Unexpected ID appears after every scan, and the number still missing goes down as you work.
- 03
Finish and keep the record
Open Missing IDs to see what is left, finish the check, then download the PDF report for the despatch file or the CSV for your own system.
A CONCRETE EXAMPLETwenty-four cartons in the bay, but not the right twenty-four
The list for collection 77 holds 24 cartons, CTN-7701 to CTN-7724. The loader scans 24 labels. ManifestBench shows 23 listed IDs observed, 1 missing (CTN-7719) and 1 unexpected (CTN-7803, from the next day's order). CTN-7719 is found on the packing bench and scanned. The stray carton goes back to the bench, and its observation is corrected with the reason that it belongs to the next day's order. The finished check shows all 24 listed IDs observed and no unresolved unexpected IDs, with the correction kept in the history.
USED IN PRODUCTION
From a checked list to a connected despatch.
ManifestBench checks one list of IDs at a point in time, on one device. Two SmartFACT services handle work that repeats every day: booking the courier from the work order once the goods are packed, and checking what goes into each kit before it is packed. Both are in early access, with scope agreed at onboarding.
ParcelOffice
When the checked cartons go out by courier, ParcelOffice books the shipment from the work order with two scans: the job, then an approved parcel preset. It sends the courier labels to the bench printer through PrintStation and returns the tracking details to your factory software. Approved plain English rules recommend or choose the parcel.
KitProof
ManifestBench confirms which carton IDs were seen, not what is inside each carton. When a carton holds a kit of parts, KitProof turns approved plain English component rules into each kit's expected parts and quantities, then checks every scan against that plan before the kit leaves the bench.
BEFORE YOU START
A few practical answers.
Does it book the courier or update our despatch system?
No. ManifestBench records which listed IDs were observed and gives you CSV and PDF files. It does not book shipments, print courier labels, create a carrier manifest or write to your order or despatch system.
Can several people scan the same load?
One person controls a check at a time, on one device. To split a large load, give each person their own part of the list as a separate CSV, run a check for each part and combine the downloaded CSV files in your own system. There is no shared live check.
What if a label is damaged and does not scan?
Type the ID and choose Use this code. It is checked in the same way and recorded as a manual entry, so the history and report show that it was not read from the barcode.
What are the current limits?
ManifestBench checks distinct IDs against one imported list. It is not a despatch, shipping or stock system: there are no courier bookings, carrier manifests, SKU quantities, carton contents, stock levels or links to your order system, and a scanned pallet ID never marks the cartons on it as seen. A finished check records which listed IDs were observed; it does not prove that a vehicle was loaded or that goods were accepted. One person controls a check at a time, on one device. Imports are UTF-8 CSV with a header row, up to 5 MiB and 10,000 distinct IDs, with up to 10,000 observations per check. IDs are matched as exact text, so the list must hold exactly what each barcode contains. XLSX import, RFID and emailing results are not supported.
What happens to my data?
Your check stays in this browser. A new check is kept in memory until you choose Save on this device, so closing or refreshing the tab loses unsaved work. The manifest is read in the browser and nothing is uploaded: there is no account, email or upload step. The camera decodes labels on your device, and camera images are never stored or sent. Google Analytics is optional and loads only after you accept; it never receives IDs, file contents, file names or check results. Use Analytics settings to change your choice; see /privacy/.
