PRIVACY
Your check stays on your device.
Obsidian Black Ltd operates ManifestBench. The tool reads your manifest, records your scans and creates your reports in your browser. There is no account, and nothing you import, scan or download is uploaded.
What the browser keeps
A new check is kept only in memory while the tab is open. It is not written to browser storage, cookies or the address bar, and closing or refreshing the tab loses it. With Save on this device, the check is stored in this browser's site storage until you delete it under Open saved work or clear the site data. Anyone using the same browser profile can open it. A saved check holds the manifest title and source date you entered, the ID and description columns you chose with their row numbers, and every observation, correction, finish and reopening with its time and reason. The original CSV file and the columns you did not choose are not kept.
Preparing for offline use stores the tool's own files, including the camera decoder and the report font, not your checks. Remove offline copy deletes them. IDs, descriptions, manifest titles and file names never appear in page addresses, tab titles or download file names.
Files, camera and downloads
The manifest CSV is read in your browser and is not uploaded. The camera starts only when you choose to scan with it, after your browser asks for permission, and no sound is recorded. Each frame is decoded on your device, by the browser's own barcode reader or by the tool's decoder, and only the decoded value is recorded. Camera images are never stored or sent. The camera stops when you close the camera view, switch away from the page or lock the screen.
Download check CSV, Download check PDF and Download a backup create files on your device. They contain the exact IDs, descriptions and observations in the check, so review them before sharing. Import a backup reads a backup file in your browser, checks it before replacing anything and opens it as a new temporary check; it never overwrites a saved original.
Network requests and links
Loading the tool retrieves its own pages, scripts, styles and fonts from manifestbench.smartfact.ai. Hosting providers may record ordinary request details such as IP addresses and paths. The camera decoder and the PDF report components are fetched from the same site the first time you use them, unless the tool is prepared for offline use; these requests carry no IDs, files or results. Importing, checking, saving and downloads need no other requests. Links to other SmartFACT products open only when you select them, in a new tab, and carry no tracking marker. No ID, description or file content is ever placed in a link.
Feedback and reporting an issue
ManifestBench has no built-in feedback or problem-report button, and nothing is sent to us automatically. To tell us about a problem or an idea, use our feedback form or the SmartFACT support form, and share only what you choose. Use synthetic IDs where you can. Leaving your email address on the feedback form is optional.
Optional analytics
With your consent, we use Google Analytics to understand visits to our pages and the tool. The Google tag stays off until you accept. Rejecting analytics does not affect the tool.
Google receives page views, browser and device details, connection information and cookie identifiers. In the tool, analytics records a page view with a fixed page name and address; importing, scanning, saving and downloading send no events. Our events never include IDs, descriptions, manifest titles, file contents, file names, observations, query strings or fragments. Referrers are reduced to their origins on these pages and left out in the tool. When you follow a link to another SmartFACT product or service, one event records only this tool's name, the destination product and a fixed name for where the link appeared: suite_cta_click on these pages and suite_next_step in the tool. Advertising personalisation is disabled. Offline use and downloaded files never send analytics.
Your analytics choice is remembered for 180 days in a preference cookie shared across smartfact.ai and its subdomains, including product websites and apps. Use Analytics settings on these pages, or Change preference in the tool, to accept or reject analytics across the suite. Google Analytics cookies remain specific to each host and last up to 180 days. Open pages check for changes; other sites remove their analytics cookies when next opened or resumed. Saving checks on this device and your analytics choice are separate controls.
Google processes analytics data under its own arrangements, which may involve processing outside the UK. Google privacy policy
